What kinds of issues do you face as an educator in New Hampshire for both unconnected and under-connected students and how do you think funds should be spent to help close this connectivity gap?
There are still many areas north of Concord that do not have broadband access. This should be a priority for NH.
In our rural community, we have a gap with students not having the ability to use our android devices at home due to the lack of internet services. This impacts their ability to complete assignments as well as limiting the progress of using the method of the flipped classroom. Funding to help establish increased connectivity within the community would help achieve increased use of technology.
People dont know about the reduced internet access and rural areas do not have the benefit of getting access.
As the need for more technology in the classrooms increase, many schools are struggling with providing sufficient tools and increased broadband to handle the needs. Schools are in dire need of additional funding to attempt to improve student learning and demonstrate real life 21st century learning skills.
Funding to help close the connectivity gap for all students would be best utilized by giving internet access to every student in the district to allow for continuous and progressive learning outside of school grounds.
We have students who are not connected and are unable to keep up with homework and online assignments. Funds should be spent on free internet for town populations.
Q1 Increasing access for all students. Employing a 1-1 program. After school programs for both students and community members. Professional development to help with tech integration.
Q2 Educating school boards and community as to issues facing teachers with tech integration. Finding out which students are un and under connected and why. Funding for devices to connect kids and also helping parents who may not be able to afford internet access.

`Access to the internet is not only a rural issue, but is also a problem right here in Manchester. Students have access to low cost devices , but getting connected is a barrier. Providing municipal hotspots as well as partnering with local businesses and community organizations to provide students with places to connect and learn after school should be a priority.
