Get Published! is an ELA web-based digital publishing platform that provides students, in grades K-8, the chance to experience the joy of book writing and publishing. The three main components of the platform — Academy, Studio, Bookshelf — take the student on a journey from learning, to doing, to sharing.

In the Academy section, Peter coaches students through videos and activities, sharing real-world tips on developing characters and storylines, the value of collaboration and editing, and the joy of publishing books.
The Studio is where students can write and illustrate books and where the editor in chief (the teacher) can set assignments and monitor progress. Students can also collaborate with classmates, having the opportunity to both receive and provide editorial feedback as a creative community.

Books are saved in a virtual Bookshelf where they can be shared with classmates as digital books or printed as a PDF. Hard copies of books can also be ordered (separate costs apply for printing through professional printer).
Get Published! is an annual subscription and available as a web-based application. Online hosting lets students log in 24/7, from any computer connected to the internet — allowing them to write anytime, anywhere.

FableVision Learning’s Mapping the World by Heartcurriculum is designed for students grades 5-12 to have a comprehensive knowledge of geography that allows them to map the world entirely from memory.

The award-winning curriculum is the creation of David J. Smith with illustrations from Peter H. Reynolds. The curriculum teaches students to draw – entirely from memory – detailed world maps including the names, borders, mountain ranges, rivers, and major cities of more than 190 countries.
    •    Gets students excited about geography and encourages them to think globally.
    •    Promotes positive student interactions and collaboration, both in small group work and as a class.
    •    Provides teachers with flexible lessons they can easily integrate into their existing curriculum.
    •    Gives students a constructive goal to work towards all year long.

The curriculum includes a set of maps and a comprehensive teacher’s guide that makes it easy to integrate lessons and activities into any class’s existing curriculum. Additional maps can be purchased separately. Combining memorization with the real use of knowledge, practice, mnemonics, large and small group activities, and games, Mapping the World by Heart inspires students to study – and love – geography.

You will need to provide your students with one atlas per student or per group of students who are working together; also, other handy reference tools include a globe, and one or more copies of almanacs (such as The World Almanac, The Time Almanac, etc.). The creator, David Smith, offers recommendations for these on his website: www.Mapping.com

FableVision Learning’s Words And Their Stories (WATS) is an award-winning web-based vocabulary program that engages students in grades 5-12 with the stories behind words.

Words and Their Stories requires students to apply etymology and critical thinking skills (application, analysis, synthesis) in a sequential, inductive process to develop true understanding of word meaning.

Words and Their Stories applies the WATS process to general vocabulary study, as well as standardized test preparation and literature-specific vocabulary that is then combined with activities designed to improve reading comprehension skills. All products are delivered through engaging multimedia and are designed specifically for grades 5 and up, allowing both individualized instruction and self-paced study. Full assessment and reporting features are available and all programs meet or exceed both state and national standards.

About the WATS System:
A game-like experience leads students through clues for each word. Rather than relying on rote memorization, students must apply etymology and critical thinking skills in a sequential, inductive process to unravel and understand each word's definition.
    •    First: An illustrative story of the derivation of each word
    •    Clue #1: Applying information contained in the derivation
    •    Clue #2: Drawing upon prior knowledge
    •    Clue #3: Inferring meaning from context
    •    Clue #4: Completing an analogy
    •    Clue #5: Analyzing context to complete a sentence

Following each Clue, students receive immediate feedback that explains the correct answer and purposefully prepares them for the next Clue. After the fifth Clue, they are provided with a precise dictionary-style definition and a Bonus Word(s).

Students experience:
    •    A compelling game, while exploring academic vocabulary.
    •    A series of clues helping unravel each word's meaning
    •    The ability to track personal progress and watch vocabulary skills improve.

Words And Their Stories includes over 1,000 vocabulary words.
    •    Six levels of difficulty
    •    Thousands of related words

WATS Teacher Dashboard
    •    Track student's improvement from Pre-test to Post-test.
    •    Drill down and find out how your student is doing in each type of word clue.
    •    See scores for each level of the program.
    •    See which words your student completed, and the points they earned for each.
    •    Filter words by level of difficulty and/or theme, which makes lesson creation easy.
    •    Add your own words to the program.
    •    Create custom word lists to match curriculum you are studying.
    •    Create printable quizzes from any list.

Words and Their Stories is available as a web-based application. Online hosting lets students log in 24/7, from any computer connected to the internet.

Subscription is annual from time of activation.
